Relief for Ball of Foot Pain

Ball of Foot

At Dr. Jill’s Foot Pads we know that there are several conditions that can result in pain in the ball of your foot. Some of these include:

  • Fat Pad Atrophy—as part of the aging process, the fat pad on the ball of the foot naturally begins to decrease. This can lead to a loss of cushioning and soreness in that part of the foot.
  • Neuroma—a thickening of the nerve tissue on the bottom of the foot can cause irritation and enlargement of the nerve making it painful to bear weight.
  • Metatarsalgia—the heads of the metatarsal bones that run from your arch to your toe joints can become inflamed when too much stress is put on this area. Oftentimes this will happen when your foot is not able to distribute weight evenly. Deformities such as bunions or hammertoes can also put extra stress on the ball of your foot.

When you are experiencing pain in the ball of your foot, regardless of the cause, your goal is to get relief. We offer products that will do just that.

Gel Ball of Foot Cushions

Soft Gel Ball of Foot Cushions reduce pressure on painful spots when walking or standing. These pads come in two different thicknesses. Talk to your Podiatrist and/or Medical Professional about the thickness and best positioning of the pad based on your foot condition. These pads can be used with any style of footwear and have a self-stick backing which makes them easy to apply. Soft Gel Ball Foot Cushions are re-useable. Simply wash with a mild soap and water and allow the pad to dry completely.

Gel Dancers Pads

Another product that produces similar results is our Gel Dancers Pads. These have a cut out that surrounds the area under the designated metatarsal head on the ball of the foot to redistribute weight onto the pad and away from the painful area. These pads also come in two thicknesses to ensure a comfortable fit. You can use our Gel Dancer Pads over and over again.

In addition, we also offer felt Metatarsal Pads, felt Dancers Pads in 1/4” and 1/8” and other products to help with metatarsal pain. To see all of our products, visit our online catalog. You can order metatarsal pads by calling: (866) FOOT-PAD (366-8723) or stop by our Deerfield Beach store.

Do you find that by the end of the day the balls of your feet just ache? This is a common complaint and we at Dr. Jill’s Foot Pads have a way to alleviate that pain: Gel Ball of Foot Cushions. Pain in the ball of the foot can have several sources:

  • Fat pad atrophy—as you age the fat pad in this part of your foot begins to thin out
  • Dropped metatarsal head pain
  • Metatarsalgia
  • Calluses
  • Neuroma

Whatever the cause of the pain in the ball of your foot, Gel Ball of Foot Cushions can help. These durable gel cushions provide substantial cushioning for the painful areas on the bottom of your foot and offload metatarsal heads. They can be used in any shoes and will greatly increase your comfort when walking or standing for long hours. The pads come in two thicknesses to ensure a comfortable fit and have a self-stick surface making them easy to apply. The pads can be placed directly on the ball of the foot or behind it for maximum pain relief. Your podiatrist can advise you on the ideal placement based on your podiatric condition.

Application and Care

To use the Gel Ball of Foot Cushions, follow these simple steps:

  1. Wash your foot and dry completely. Do not apply any lotions, powders or ointments to the skin where the pad will be placed as this can dramatically decrease the effectiveness and life of the gel pad.
  2. Position the cushion with the hole comfortably placed on or behind the painful area of the ball of your foot.
  3. When ready to remove, simply gently peel the cushion away from the skin. (It is recommended that you remove the cushion for at least 3-4 hours each day to allow the skin to breathe.)

Gel Ball of Foot Pads are durable and reusable. Hand wash the gel pad with a mild soap and warm water. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry. The self-adhering surface will renew once the pad is completely dry and it can be re-used many times if properly cared for.

Be aware, gel pads should not be placed on an open wound. If you experience any irritation or discomfort from the pad, remove immediately and notify your podiatrist of the reaction.
