At Dr. Jill’s Foot Pads we know if you are experiencing severe pain in the ball of your foot or the area between the arch of the foot and your toes, you may have metatarsalgia. • Injury
  • Being overweight
  • Morton’s neuroma
  • Poorly fitting footwear
  • Standing for long periods of time on hard floors

Plantar Fasciitis Relief

At Dr. Jill’s Foot Pads, we know that heel pain is one of the most debilitating podiatric conditions for patients to deal with. Plantar fasciitis, a common culprit of heel pain, can have a few different causes. Whatever the source, however, wearing non-supportive footwear on hard, flat surfaces increases the strain on the plantar fascia and increases heel pain and discomfort. Fortunately, we have several solutions that can help cushion and protect hurting heels.

Plantar Fasciitis Arch Sleeve

This comfortable elastic sleeve contains a gel pad that can be positioned comfortably in the arch of the foot to provide support and relieve heel pain. The Plantar Fasciitis Arch Sleeve is also helpful in reducing strain on tendons and shock absorption, helping tired aching feet and preventing the foot from rolling. It can be worn with or without shoes for long-lasting comfort.

Gel Heel Cup

When you put a Gel Heel Cup in your shoe your foot will say, “Ahhhh….” This cup allows your heel to float on a soft cushion of gel and achieve superior relief for tender heels, especially if you need to stand for long hours. These heel cups are washable and can be re-used over and over again. They are designed to be used in all styles of footwear. They are also helpful in relieving discomfort caused by heel spurs, calluses and fat pad atrophy on the bottom of the heel.

Arch Binder

By providing gentle compression to the arch of the foot, the Arch Binder comfortably lifts and supports the plantar fascia with its elastic sleeve. This helps to relieve pain in both the arch and heel. The Arch Binder slips over the foot like a sleeve, allowing for comfortable positioning. It also offers plenty of support to the forefoot. Universal in size, it fits either the left or right foot. This product is washable and can be used many times with proper care.

Heel Pain Has Many Causes

At Dr. Jill’s Foot Pads, we know that there are multiple reasons why patients may suffer with heel pain. The most common is plantar fasciitis. With this disorder, the ligament the runs from your toes to your heel in the bottom of your foot becomes irritated or inflamed (most often from faulty bone structure in the arch of the foot). When the plantar fascia is inflamed, extra pressure and pain in the heel is the result.

There are other causes of heel pain as well. Arthritis, tendonitis, nerve disorders and stress fractures are other possible causes of discomfort in the heel. Your Podiatrist will conduct a physical examination of your foot and may also order x-rays or other imaging studies to determine the source of your pain. The treatment for your heel pain will depend on its root cause.

Products that Can Help

In the meantime, however, if your foot doctor has not told you to stay off your foot completely, we can offer some products that will help protect your heel and ease your pain.

Heel Grips—made of 1/8-inch sponge rubber, our Heel Grips hug your heel to prevent it from slipping around inside the shoe. It also provides cushioning for tender, sensitive heels. Heel Grips have a peel n’ stick adhesive backing that makes them easy to fit in your shoes.

The Gel Heel Cup is available in three sizes to fit every foot. It is a washable and re-usable pad that can be worn over and over again.

Gel Heel Pads—cushioned gel pads are designed for use in all styles of footwear. These Gel Heel Pads have a velvet soft top cover which offers additional comfort. They are latex-free and washable for repeated use.

Protecting Feet from Friction and Pressure

November is American Diabetes Month. This disease affects over 30 million Americans with another 1.5 million being diagnosed each year. At Dr. Jill’s Foot Pads, we know that diabetic patients have special requirements for foot health. Poor circulation, often associated with diabetes, makes it difficult for oxygen-rich blood to get to wounds, particularly in your feet, which slows the healing process. Wounds that are difficult to heal are at risk for infection and, in the worst-case scenario, can lead to amputation. For this reason, it’s essential that patients with diabetes avoid sores and blisters. One way to do this is by reducing any possibilities of friction or pressure on the foot. If you have a bunion, hammertoe or other deformity, great care must be taken to ensure that corns are not rubbed raw or excessive pressure is not put on calluses.

Below are some products that can help protect your feet if you are a patient with diabetes:

Metatarsal and Bunion Protector Sleeve —offering two benefits in one pad, the Metatarsal and Bunion Protector Sleeve provides cushioned protection for bunions and also reduces pressure on the ball of the foot. The gel is contained within a soft elasticated forefoot sleeve which keeps the pad comfortably in place. It is available in sizes small and large and will fit either your left or right foot. Sleeves are washable and re-usable. Our Gel Bunion Sleeve also offers superior cushioning and relief from any footwear pressure and is available in two sizes: S/M and L/XL.

Metatarsal Pads—pure silicone gel provides an excellent cushion which increases comfort and protects skin from breaking down. Plantar fat pad atrophy is natural as you age but this can leave the ball of your foot vulnerable to friction and excessive pressure. Other conditions such as metatarsalgia can be relieved with our Gel Metatarsal Pads, our Gel Ball of Foot Cushions or our Metatarsal Pads which are offered in either felt or foam and 1/4 or 1/8 inch thickness.

Felt and Foam Corn Pads—corns form in response to footwear rubbing on the skin. Corns can become irritated and even turn into sores if not protected. Both our Felt Corn Pads and Foam Corn Pads cushion and protect corns. A center hole placed over the corn creates a barrier between foot gear pressure and the corn. An adhesive backing keeps the pad in place.

Turf Toe Requires Special Protection

Turf toe is a sprain of the big toe joint that is often the result of injury during a sport. Most commonly, it happens to football players when they push off hard to start running or to soccer players when they come to an abrupt halt and their toe sticks while their body continues forward. This is particularly likely to occur when playing on fake turf, hence the name turf toe.

At Dr. Jill’s Foot Pads, however, our Podiatrist knows that turf toe is also a condition that can affect more casual athletes like those who run or speed walk for fitness, do gymnastics or any activity that involves repeatedly pushing off with your big toe.

Signs of Turf Toe

Symptoms of turf toe include the following:

  • Pain at the base of the big toe
  • Swelling at the joint
  • Limited range of motion and movement of the joint

If turf toe is the result of repetitive actions, the symptoms may begin slowly and gradually get worse over time. In cases where turf toe is caused by a sudden, wrenching injury, the signs will appear at once and continue to get worse over a 24-hour period.

Dr. Jill to the Rescue

One reason turf toe happens is that patients are wearing shoes that are too flexible and don’t provide adequate support for the activity they are doing. We offer a few products that can greatly decrease the risk of turf toe.

Carbon Stabilizer Plates are inserts that are used to stiffen the sole of your shoe and limit the range of motion of the forefoot to help decrease the flexibility of the shoe. In so doing, they help prevent big toe sprains. The plates are extremely thin—only 1/8” thick—and comfortable to wear. Carbon Stabilizer Plates are latex free and available in men’s sizes 6-15 and women’s sizes 5-12.

Our Spring Steel Insoles are also ideal for preventing Turf Toe and other foot problems requiring a semi-rigid foot bed. We offer Full Spring Steel Insoles as well as Half Spring Steel Insoles and both products are available in sizes for men and women.

In addition, our Moleskin Turf Toe/Bunion Straps are another great product we offer that can also help decrease the risk of Turf Toe.

Need a Little Extra Support?

At Dr. Jill’s Foot Pads we know that low or fallen arches are a serious condition that can affect many aspects of foot health. As a Podiatrist, the designer of our products, Dr. Jill Scheur, has seen many times how biomechanical problems in your foot can lead to debilitating foot conditions. Flat feet (or fallen arches) put additional stress on the plantar fascia and contribute to heel pain. They can cause your foot to overpronate and lead to metatarsalgia and create other issues that cause pain and discomfort in the ball of the foot as well.

Arch Supports

One way of dealing with these types of foot disorders is by correcting the functioning and positioning of the foot. Arch supports are an excellent way to do this. Dr. Jill’s Foot Pads offers several options:

Gel Arch Pads—these soft gel supports feature self-stick cushions for easy application and can be used in all styles of footwear. They come in two different thicknesses, so you are assured a comfortable fit. The Gel Arch Pads are latex free and can be used over and over again. Simply wash and allow to air dry for long-lasting wear.

Arch Steppers—designed with a scientifically contoured arch, these flexible supports provide long-lasting comfort for achy, weak and tired legs. The Arch Steppers come in two sizes and are ¾ length, which means extra room in the toe area. Lightweight and durable, the Arch Steppers have a base that is microbial and anti-bacterial. They can be used in nearly all styles of footwear, including most dress styles.

Arch Binder—this elastic sleeve slides over the arch providing gently yet firm compression. It helps to lift the arch and support the plantar fascia and relieves arch and heel pain. The arch binder also supports the forefoot. One size fits most and it can be worn on either the right or left foot.

Low arches are one of the many foot problems that Dr. Jill’s Foot Pads can help with. To see all of our products, view our online catalog or visit our Deerfield Beach, FL store. Need assistance? Contact us by calling: (866) FOOT-PAD (366-8723).
