Relief for Ball of Foot Pain

Ball of Foot

At Dr. Jill’s Foot Pads we know that there are several conditions that can result in pain in the ball of your foot. Some of these include:

  • Fat Pad Atrophy—as part of the aging process, the fat pad on the ball of the foot naturally begins to decrease. This can lead to a loss of cushioning and soreness in that part of the foot.
  • Neuroma—a thickening of the nerve tissue on the bottom of the foot can cause irritation and enlargement of the nerve making it painful to bear weight.
  • Metatarsalgia—the heads of the metatarsal bones that run from your arch to your toe joints can become inflamed when too much stress is put on this area. Oftentimes this will happen when your foot is not able to distribute weight evenly. Deformities such as bunions or hammertoes can also put extra stress on the ball of your foot.

When you are experiencing pain in the ball of your foot, regardless of the cause, your goal is to get relief. We offer products that will do just that.

Gel Ball of Foot Cushions

Soft Gel Ball of Foot Cushions reduce pressure on painful spots when walking or standing. These pads come in two different thicknesses. Talk to your Podiatrist and/or Medical Professional about the thickness and best positioning of the pad based on your foot condition. These pads can be used with any style of footwear and have a self-stick backing which makes them easy to apply. Soft Gel Ball Foot Cushions are re-useable. Simply wash with a mild soap and water and allow the pad to dry completely.

Gel Dancers Pads

Another product that produces similar results is our Gel Dancers Pads. These have a cut out that surrounds the area under the designated metatarsal head on the ball of the foot to redistribute weight onto the pad and away from the painful area. These pads also come in two thicknesses to ensure a comfortable fit. You can use our Gel Dancer Pads over and over again.

In addition, we also offer felt Metatarsal Pads, felt Dancers Pads in 1/4” and 1/8” and other products to help with metatarsal pain. To see all of our products, visit our online catalog. You can order metatarsal pads by calling: (866) FOOT-PAD (366-8723) or stop by our Deerfield Beach store.

Dr. Jill’s Protection for Painful Corns

Corns are a secondary condition that form as the result of repeated pressure on skin from another foot problem. When you have a bunion, hammertoe or other foot deformity, it causes footwear to rub and put pressure on a spot on your toe or foot. Over time, a corn may form. Eventually, the underlying problem that is causing the corn needs to be treated in order for the corn to be eliminated. Dr. Jill’s Foot Pads offer a number of solutions that can bring relief to painful corns.

Gel Corn Pads—a soft fabric sleeve containing gel inside is expandable and therefore easily stretches to slip over your toe. The gel provides cushioning which protects the corn and relieves pain. An added bonus, Gel Corn Pads release moisturizers onto the hardened skin to soften and relieve discomfort of the problem area. Our Gel Corn Pads are breathable and allow air to circulate. They are washable and can be re-used multiple times in all types of footwear.

All Gel Toe Tubes—these soft gel tubes are 4 ½ inches long and can be custom cut to any size needed. Also washable and re-usable, these tubes protect the toe and provide a barrier between the foot and your shoes. All Gel Toe Tubes come in 5 sizes to ensure a comfortable fit.

All Gel Toe Caps—one-size cap is designed to slip over the top of toes 2, 3, 4, or 5 (not the big toe). The All Gel Toe Caps insulate the toes against shock and pressure and they have a padded toe tip, which provides extra comfort. The gel slowly releases mineral oil to soften and moisturize the skin. These too are washable and re-usable.

The pad you choose will depend on the location and severity of the corn. You should never apply a gel pad to an open wound and pads should be removed for at least 3-4 hours each day to allow the skin to breathe. Help for Plantar Fasciitis Sufferers

At Dr. Jill’s Foot Pads, we know that many patients suffer from plantar fasciitis—an inflammation of the long tendon that runs along the bottom of your foot, the plantar fascia.

Symptoms of plantar fasciitis include:

  • Pain on the bottom of your heel
  • Arch pain
  • Swelling of the heel

In most cases, the pain is usually worse when you first get up in the morning and when you are very active and on your feet for long periods of time. There are multiple causes of this condition but among the most common is fallen arches or flat feet. We offer several products that can ease the discomfort of plantar fasciitis by cushioning the heel and giving support to the arch. These include:

Heel Cup

Our heel cup cushions and protects the heel. It offers long-lasting comfort and relief from heel pain. Our Gel Heel Cup contains gel cushions that go between your heel and bottom of the shoe, providing shock absorption and padding. The pads are re-usable. Simply hand wash with mild soap and water and allow to air dry. They come in multiple sizes to fit men and women and can be used in all styles of footwear. Another product that also gives some cushioning and reduces strain to the plantar fascia is our Plantar Fascial Straps made of moleskin.

Arch Support

Proper support of the arch is essential for patients with plantar fasciitis. Helping the arch maintain its appropriate shape reduces the pressure on the plantar fascia and thereby decreases heel pain and discomfort. Our Plantar Fasciitis Arch Sleeve has a gel pad that is held in place by a comfortable elastic sleeve and gives support to the arch of the foot. The Plantar Fasciitis Arch Sleeve is easy to slip on and also absorbs shock with every step. It can be worn with or without shoes.

Our Arch Binder goes around the center of the foot and provides gentle compression to the arch. This comfortably lifts and supports the plantar fascia, thereby relieving pain in the heel. The Arch Binder fits either the left or right foot.

Both the Arch Binder and the Plantar Fasciitis Arch Sleeve are hand washable and can be used over and over again.
